Junction & Access Design

We have the capability to assess junction and interchange requirements for proposed highway improvements and new developments, including the provision of interchanges, major/minor junctions, roundabouts and traffic signals.

Examples of commissions undertaken include:

  • Design of a new junction for a proposed housing estate in Middleton, Lancashire which included widening of the existing carriageway and provision for a ghost island to give access to 200 new houses.
  • New roundabout on the B6430 Garstang Road, Catterall for a proposed new housing estate.
  • Lomeshaye Road, Nelson. Re-configuration of existing signalised junction to include pedestrian phase adjacent to a new retail development.
  • Junction 34, M6. Following assessment of accident data we undertook the design of possible improvements to this busy motorway junction, on behalf of Lancashire CC and the Highways Agency.
  • Assessment of new access / revised junction for development on the A59 at Aughton.
  • Assessment of minor junctions on the A580 at Goldborne and the provision of options for improvement.
