Dr John Birtwhistle
Dr John Birtwhistle joined PSA Design, as a director in May 2002. He had previously spent 5 years with the Babtie Group, based throughout the UK in the geotechnical consultancy division. Previously John had worked with Baker Hughes Ltd for three years as a petroleum geologist.
He graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1990 with a Bachelors Degree (with honours) in Geology. This was followed by research into landfill liners within the Pavements and Geotechnics Group of the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Nottingham. John graduated with a PhD in Civil Engineering, the thesis title being “ Performance of Clay Linings and Cappings for Landfill”.
John has wide experience as a project manager for various landfill/waste management, geotechnical and foundation design, and ground investigation projects.
